Local cafés known as ‘Hotaa’ in the Maldives are a cultural eating outlet that’s been prominent throughout the years. They abide fast service, buffet food, loud environment and customers that consists of ninety nine percent men – as the norm. Cidee’s Kitchen opened Magukolhu Hotaa in 2020, presenting the local café to be embraced by all genders and ages. Set at the corner end of the road (how the name of the place came to be), it is  designed in bright blue and white, adorned in traditional architecture that catches the eye of anyone passing by with in the dense city. The Hotaa quickly became popular for its hygiene surrounding, good food, and the safe environment it provides for all genders, ages and enmities. Like the customs of any Hotaa, breakfast includes varieties of local cuisines and drinks. Lunch promises arrays of diverse cuisines, which varies with different days. Most popular time is evening tea, a celebrate affair in the Maldivian culture, and thus a lively time at Magukolhu Hotaa. There are countless selections of hedhika (local finger foods) to choose from, for a spicy appeasing or a sweet tooth. Dinner again is filled with main courses, but still allows any customer wanting to have late tea with hedhika, the option of doing that.
